Semi Final
Skellig Rangers 0-15
Firies 1-9
Skellig Rangers have qualified for their first ever Junior Final after making better use of the conditions in the first-half when they had the wind at their backs and had a seven point lead at half-time that their opponents Firies were always chasing last Saturday in Listry. The South Kerry side opened up a four point lead in the opening 10 minutes with Sean Courtney,Stephen O Sullivan and Bernard Casey on fire for Skellig. Points from Neil Foley and Donal Daly brought the East Kerry side back into it but with Courtney in particular in flying form, they trailed 10 points to three at the break. Firies came more into the game in the second-half aided by introduction of Alan Lonney along with Colm O’Shea coming more into the game as both managed to gradually eek into the Skellig lead. However with Wayne O’Sullivan and Colm Martin holding firm at the back Skellig just managed to put over the points necessary to put the game beyond their opponents reach. A Donal Daly penalty reduced the deficit to three points with five minutes left but Firies couldn’t find an equalizing score in the closing stages as Skellig celebrated at the final whistle.
